Full Description
The next gathering of the BRLUG Newbies Group/Cajun Clickers Computer Club Linux Desktop SIG is this coming Monday, April 17th at 6 PM in the Computer Lab at the Clickers Office. This workshop will be on how to move your IE Favorites/Cookies to Mozilla Firefox, and how to move your Outlook e-mail and contacts and the associated account(s) to KDE-Mail/Ximian Evolution. There will be a sample OE mailbox file that everyone will be able to use for the workshop. Be sure to have all necessary information with regard to your personal e-mail accounts if you wish to use your account in these exercises. These will include your e-mail account name (joeblow at cox.net), your account password(s) and the server host names (smtp.east.cox.net) associated with your accounts. We will delete all of this from the computers when we are finished.
Remember, this will be a hands on workshop so if you are a Clickers member head over to the Clickers web page ( http://www.clickers.org/register/index.asp ) and get signed up so that you will be assured of having a computer to work on. Anyone that has a laptop with wireless connectivity is encouraged to bring it
and do the workshop exercises on your own machine.
The Agenda will be :
1. Question and Answer session for the first 15 minutes or until you run
out of questions and/or we run out of answers..... :)
2. Joe Zachary - Moving IE Favorites & Cookies to Mozilla Firefox.
3. 10 minute Break
4. Ed Richards - Migrating from Outlook Express to KDE Mail.
If you want a copy of the slide presentations, which will be available
for both Open Office Impress and Microsoft PowerPoint, a blank CD/DVD or your USB thumb drive.
Keep in mind that the purpose of this workshop is NOT to make experts of
you in using either Firefox or KDE-Mail but to get you to the point were
you can do e-mail and browse the web from Linux. We will have future
workshops that will delve deeply into the rich feature sets of these and
other Linux applications.
