Full Description

The next Newbies/CCC Linux Desktop SIG Workshop will be Monday, June
5th, 2006 at 6 PM in the Computer Lab at the Clickers Office.

In this months workshop we will look at all of the many features of the Xandros File Manager, also known as XFM. Some of its features are also applicable to other file managers like Konqueror and others, but most of them don't do automatic network browsing, CD/DVD burning, or automatic mounting of
storage devices.

We will also do a segment on how to connect to the internet using a dial
up modem.

Will Hill will do a segment on using virtual desktops. Virtual desktops
help you organize your work and to multi-task using different desktops
for different tasks. For example, you can use one virtual desktop for
programming, another for e-mail, and another for reading help files. In
Xandros, you have two virtual desktops by default, but you can have up
to 16 and each one can even have its own unique name.

To wrap up the workshop, Joe Zachary will do a segment on how to find
and install themes on your KDE desktop. He will cover things like how to
make your Linux box behave and look like a Mac or a Win XP, or even a
Win 3.1 machine, and most anything else that one can think up. For a
preview of this take a look here:

Finally, if you want to look at or download any of the past workshop
slide shows, or find out about other things that we are doing, have a

IF you are a member of CCCC, be sure to go here:

http://www.clickers.org/register/index.asp

and sign up for the workshop to be sure that you will have a machine to
work on as we do the workshop.

Also, remember that we will try and answer any of your questions during
the first 15 minutes of the workshop, so if you have any, bring 'em on.
