HOWTO create an image of your Windows or Linux partition using RIPLinux
Speaker

Full Description
With many of our membership upgrading, or about to upgrade, to Version 4 of Xandros, in this workshop we will learn how to create and restore an image of our existing Xandros 3 or Windows installation. Every attendee will receive a complementary copy of RIPLinux [(R)ecovery (I)s (P)ossible Linux]. RIPLinux is a Live CD that includes a collection of maintenance, repair and recovery programs that run on a very light weight desktop called FluxBox. Some of the programs included are GParted, a partition management programs similar to Partition Magic for Windows and partimage, a partition imaging program similar to Norton Ghost, and many others.
If time permits, we will also look at a version of Ubuntu Linux called Xubuntu, which has been tweaked to run on older, less capable hardware, but still offer a somewhat user friendly experience. I have it running on my old Compaq Presario 1825 laptop which has an Intel 366 MHZ Celeron processor, 192 meg ram, and a 6 gig hard drive. It seems to run pretty well and is fairly snappy considering the hardware that it is running on. It has given a new lease on life to an old laptop that was sitting in the corner gathering dust. I just gotta figure out how to get the wireless card working.
