1. What is the Baton Rouge Linux User Group
The Baton Rouge Linux User Group is a Linux User Group. That it, it is a group of people dedicated to helping one another in fully understanding and utilizing the Linux UNIX-like operating system.

2. What is the mission of the Baton Rouge Linux User Group?
The Baton Rouge Linux User Group's (BRLUG) mission is to advocate the use of Linux both in the home and the enterprise, to support the existing base of Linux users in the city of Baton Rouge, and to have a great time.

3. What exactly does the group do?
The user group maintains an active mailing list so members can ask questions and talk about Linux related events. In addition, we hold a monthly meeting, have annual InstallFests, and in general just meet to have a good time.

4. How can I contact the user group?
Quite easily. Simply go to our contact page.

5. Do I have to pay dues to become a member?
No. The user group is free to everyone. In fact, we refuse any type of monetary contributions.

6. How can I get Linux for my own use?
There are several ways. Local stores, such as CompUSA, now stock Linux distributions on their shelves. These boxed sets are an excellent way for new users to get their hands on Linux. Another method, and one that is free, is to download a CDROM ISO image from a distributions website and burn the image to a CD. This is perfectly legal--remember, Linux is free! Finally, you can attend a BRLUG meeting. We bring free CDs to each meeting, and often give away box sets as door prizes.

7.  How is the User Group organized?
The user group is structured using the Benevolent Dictator model. Under this structure all final decisions are made by the User Group Coordinator. However, for many decisions the User Group Coodinator calls for a vote by members of the mailing list, BRLUGLIST, and will usually abide by the vote's outcome.
